Dhaka, Bangladesh
Founder and President
Think Twice, Act Wise (TTAW),” a campaign and later an organization that focused on countering violent extremism, was eventually crowned the winner of the “Facebook Peer to Peer Global Digital Challenge, spring 2017”, a global championship held in Washington DC. One hundred sixty universities from 70 countries participated in the competition. TTAW’s theory of change was based on the primary research on the hypothesis that the higher the level of critical thinking skills among youth, the less likely they are to engage in violent activities. TTAW’s study found that involvement in extracurricular activities and social engagement increase critical thinking skills among youths. Based on its developed curriculum, the team conducted workshops and training for students aged 6 to 18 as part of the campaign in several high schools across Dhaka. They arranged seminars and summits on “Youth Engagement in Countering Violent Extremism: A Confluence of Policy and Practices” in the two major cities of Bangladesh. Participants included law enforcement agencies, researchers, and policymakers. One of the outcomes of those events was a policy memo that addressed the loopholes in Bangladesh’s education and youth policy.
